New Years Day in Pasadena - What a Party!
Happy New Year to Everyone
We had a very nice New Years Eve and Day, Family Style. We had a nice family dinner, watched a movie and played Scrabble. We let Addison stay up until 10 and pop party poppers in the driveway. Afterwards, while brushing her teeth she lost another tooth. She was very excited! The tooth fairy left her $2 and a note. Since this was the first baby tooth she had lost without having the dentist pull it out and the first cavity free tooth, the tooth fairy thought it was worth something extra. And even though the tooth fairy "borrowed" mom's stationary, Addison knew it wasn't mom writing the note because the handwriting was too swirly. The funniest part though - at the parade, Addison spent her $2.00 on cotton candy! The tooth fairy will be very disappointed!
At midnight, Douglas and I could hear the thousands of people camping out on Colorado Blvd screaming and lighting cherry bombs, blowing horns and having a grand old time! We were all too happy to go to sleep!
Tuesday morning we went to the Rose Parade with our friends the Christensen's and the Christiansen's. It's a half block trek to the parade route - very tiring! J/K. The kids had a great time, the floats were absolutely beautiful, and the bands played on as they marched the 5 mile parade route. Elias loved all the action and kept yelling "marching band!" His favorite floats were the Sesame Street float and the long train float.
As long as we live in Pasadena the invitation is open to anyone who wants to come visit and see the parade in person.

Fun, fun! Do you go to the parade every year? We didn't go that one year we lived in Pasadena. Oh well.
Love the photos! The top one if fabulous! Sorry we left Elias in such a dither yesterday. Let's plan a hand off time to have Addy spend the night. I always forget. We can compare school calendars...
Wow, great pictures. My mother went, she always goes, wakes up around 9pm and heads down to San Gabriel Boulevard.
I have such good memories of the Rose Parade, funny though, I never stayed up to watch it. My friends and I would stay up all night on the parade route saving seats for other people. Around 6 in the morning we would head back to my friends house and go to sleep. though the party out on Colorado Blvd was always crazy (crazier when they let your toss tortillas).
ahh, I miss L.A.

Addy, our violin teacher in England organised her students to march in a parade for peace. They held a big banner that said "Violinists for Peace".
Thanks so much for holding a parking place for us--we had a great time with you at the parade and LOVE the pics--you captured them better than I did. LOVE YOU!
this looks like a must see, we will have to make it down for that one year. so fun that you are so close to it every year!
we did the parade one year when Franz and I were young. It was a NIGHTMARE because we drove up in the middle of the night and then camped out until it started. I just remember it being really hard on us. I would love to see it again and be able to appreciate it for what it is in person. Great pictures!! You're so lucky to live so close.
I miss being able to see the parade. The first time I saw it in person I was blown away...it's just not the same on TV. I'm glad the weather was nice and that you guys had so much fun!
